Dr. Yau Weng Keong, an Associate Professor and elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians London, is a pioneering geriatrician with nearly three decades of clinical experience. He was instrumental in establishing Geriatric Services within the Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia, a program that grew from just four geriatricians in 1997 to over 60 nationwide by 2023. As the former Head of Geriatric Services for five years, he led the development of specialized care in areas such as dementia, falls, and geriatric rehabilitation.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Yau now focuses on teaching and mentoring the next generation of professionals. He is also active in academia and research, having served as a Principal Investigator for dementia studies and written chapters for handbooks on elderly care. He was appointed Director of the Active Ageing Impact Lab in 2025.
