Prof. Dr Wee Lei Hum

Prof. Dr. Wee Lei Hum is a Professor at Taylor’s University and also serves at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Her expertise lies in health behaviour, health promotion, nicotine addiction and tobacco control.
She has led several national and international research projects on smoking cessation, including a cluster-randomized controlled trial on training stop-smoking advisers in Malaysia. Beyond academia, Prof. Wee contributes actively to policy, Malaysia’s Clinical Practice Guidelines on Tobacco Use Disorder, National Trainer for Smoking Cessation Service Providers, and a member of WHO’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control Technical Working Group.Her research bridges digital health, behavioral science, and policy, with a focus on innovative interventions such as virtual reality and AI-assisted cessation tools. Prof. Wee’s work has made a significant impact on advancing tobacco control in Malaysia and the region.
