Vice President
Hemophilia Society of Malaysia

Mr Muhammad Shakir Abdul Aziz

Shakir Aziz works in research and communications at a government agency, where he helps translate scientific insights into knowledge that benefits the public. He holds a Master’s degree in Industrial Biotechnology from Universiti Malaysia Kelantan.

Living with severe haemophilia A, Shakir believes that every patient must take responsibility for their own treatment — to understand their condition, engage in open discussions with their doctors, and adhere to prescribed care. As Vice President of the Hemophilia Society of Malaysia (HSM) and co-founder of Suara Kita, he champions the role of patients as informed partners in healthcare, guided by the principle “Nothing about us, without us.”

Shakir also contributes his perspective as a patient representative in national health guideline and technology assessment discussions, ensuring that lived experience informs policy and practice. A Certified Patient Navigator, he is committed to strengthening patient knowledge, empowering youth, and fostering a healthcare system that listens, includes, and evolves with the people it serves.
