Dr. Deepa Gamage is a Public Health Specialist in Disease Control at the WHO Country Office for Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore since 2024. She previously served as Consultant at the same office (2022–2023) and worked with the WHO HQ Measles and Rubella team in Geneva (2021–2022), supporting outbreak response and preventive strategies.
Dr Gamage is a medical doctor by training (MBBS, 1996), she holds a Master’s (2004) and MD (2009) in Community Medicine from Sri Lanka, with further specialist training in Australia. She served Sri Lanka Ministry of Health from 1997–2021, mainly at the National Epidemiology Unit, gaining wide experience in communicable and non-communicable disease control, healthy ageing, climate-related health threats, and crisis settings including Tsunami and conflict.
Dr. Gamage has contributed to national and global expert committees on COVID-19, cancer prevention, immunization, and ageing, and provided technical support for WHO missions in Asia and beyond.
