Dr. Ruben Ramakrishnan is a Public Health Medicine Specialist with over a decade of expertise in non-communicable disease (NCD) prevention programs. He is an appointed member of the Technical Working Group for the National Policy on Obesity (2025–2027), contributing to the National Strategic Plan for NCDs (NSP-NCD 2026–2030). He also serves as Treasurer of the Malaysian Obesity Society (MyOS) for the 2025–2027 term.

His leadership and technical contributions have been pivotal in shaping national NCD strategies, particularly obesity prevention. Dr Ruben’s expertise spans policy development, stakeholder engagement, and strategic program implementation. Passionate about advancing obesity prevention, he actively collaborates with government, NGOs, and international partners to drive systemic change.

His advocacy centers on securing recognition of obesity as a chronic disease in Malaysia, while promoting inclusive, evidence-based policies for healthier communities. He remains committed to building healthier societies where every individual can achieve the best physical, mental, and overall well-being outcomes.
