Chuan Loo holds a PhD in Genetic Engineering and Molecular Biology from the
Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences at Universiti Putra Malaysia
(UPM), which she earned in 2020. Upon graduation, she joined UCSI University
at Centre of Excellence for Research, Value Innovation and Entrepreneurship as
a Research Manager. She is a molecular virologist and her specialization is in the
field of gene editing research where she employs this technology to develop
diagnostic tools and potential vaccine candidates for infectious diseases. Her
research area includes utilising different virus-like particle (VLP) platforms for
antigen display, and the application of these nanoparticles as biological sensing
materials in developing point-of-care devices. In addition to her research
publications, she has filed two patents for her work on a hepatitis B diagnostic
tool and a universal vaccine for influenza A virus.
