Professor Dr Muhammad Yazid Jalaludin is The Deputy Dean (Undergraduate Studies) and a Professor of Paediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. He practices as a Senior Consultant Paediatrician and Senior Consultant Paediatric Endocrinologist at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and UM Specialist Centre. He completed his fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), USA after obtaining his MBBS and Masters in Paediatrics, both from University Malaya.
He is currently the Chairman of the National Specialist Registry Committee for General Paediatrics (Malaysia Medical Council), Chairman of the Malaysian Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Group (MPEDG), Vice President of the Malaysian Endocrine and Metabolic Society (MEMS 2024-2026), and Executive Council Member of Diabetes Malaysia (DM 2023-2025). He was the Past President of Malaysian Paediatric Association (MPA; 2017-2019) and Asia Pacific Paediatric Endocrine Society (APPES, 2018-2020). He currently co-chairs Changing Diabetes in Children (CDiC) Malaysia and Identification & Management of Feeding Difficulties (IMFeD Malaysia) programs.
Prof Jalaludin main research interest is in obesity and T2DM, malnutrition and vitamin D in children. He holds many national and international research grants worth more than RM18 million and acts as Scientific Advisor and Expert Panel member for many multi-centre international researches. He has published more than 100 articles in various academic journals including TWO in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). He received the prestigious Outstanding Asian Paediatrician Award 2024 and recently conferred the prestigious Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (FASc) and Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Malaysia (FAMM).
