Associate Prof. Dr. Priya Madhavan is the Director of the Digital Health and Medical Advancement Impact Lab at Taylor’s University. She holds a PhD in Medical Microbiology from Universiti Putra Malaysia (2014), an MSc in Biology (2003), and a BSc (Hons) in Biology with a focus on Microbiology and Business Management from Universiti Sains Malaysia (1999). Certified in Biorisk Management and Biosecurity, Dr. Priya has over 24 years of experience teaching microbiology and immunology, and serves as a trainer with the Malaysian Biosafety and Biosecurity Association.
Her research focuses on antimicrobial resistance, biofilms, drug discovery, and nanomedicine. She leads translational projects, with patents pending, and has published extensively, securing numerous national grants. Dr. Priya’s supervision has fostered impactful research in fungal pathogenesis, neurodegenerative diseases, and nanotechnology therapeutics.
She has received awards, including the Travel Fellowship Award to Vienna, Austria, for the Medical Mycology Conference in 2009; the Best Poster Award (Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society, 2011); the Excellence in Microbiology Award (India, 2019); and multiple Gold and Bronze Awards for educational innovation (2021, 2023). Her research has been featured in Malaysian media, highlighting her work on natural remedies for dementia and antimicrobial resistance. Additionally, she has been involved in community engagements through Community Medicine alongside MBBS students at Taylor’s University. Living Malaysia recognized Dr. Priya as one of “10 Malaysian Women Who Exemplify World Humanitarian Day” in 2020 for her contributions to the community.
